About this orchard journal

Each morning I spend a few minutes taking some notes about what’s going on in our orchard, Reisingers’ Apple Country, in Watkins Glen, NY.  We grow tree fruit and berries, and we sell apple nursery stock.  We always get questions from avid beginning orchardists about managing the trees–it’s a complicated business with a steep learning curve!

We decided to publish our orchard journal and recommended resources to help new tree fruit growers get into the swing of things.  This journal does NOT provide pest control recommendations for your orchard, it is simply a compilation of notes about what we’re doing in our orchard on a given day in a given year.  See the Cornell Tree Fruit Guidelines for current pest control recommendations, and always follow the directions on the label of any pest control product you purchase.
